Seven days on the world's most remote inhabited island — exploring ancient Moai, volcanic craters, sacred caves, and skies that hold more stars than you've ever seen.
Walk among the icons of Rapa Nui — from the 15 towering Moai of Ahu Tongariki to the silent, half-buried figures of Rano Raraku quarry.
Stand at Ahu Tongariki at first light and watch the sun rise behind 15 colossal Moai — one of the most powerful sights in the Pacific, at one of Earth's most remote sacred sites.
Easter Island sits in one of the darkest spots on Earth. Gaze upon the Milky Way, Southern constellations, and the same stars that guided Polynesian navigators across the Pacific.
Trek into Rano Kau's massive crater with its otherworldly freshwater lake, and ascend the slopes of Rano Raraku where hundreds of Moai were born from volcanic stone.
Descend into Ana Te Pahu's lava tube caves fringed with banana trees, and find ancient birdman paintings deep inside Ana Kai Tangata's coastal cavern.
Relax on Rapa Nui's legendary white-sand beach — believed to be the landing site of the island's very first settlers — and immerse yourself in living Polynesian culture.
Rapa Nui — Easter Island — is one of the most remote inhabited places on the planet, a tiny volcanic triangle rising from the South Pacific more than 2,000 miles from the nearest coastline. For centuries, its mysteries have captivated the world: who built the colossal Moai statues, how did they move them across the island, and why?
The island is a living UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to over 900 Moai carved from volcanic tuff, ancient ceremonial platforms called ahu, the sacred Orongo Birdman cult village, and a Polynesian culture that survived isolation at the edge of the world. Coming here is not tourism — it is pilgrimage.
Expedition Lead & Community Host
Contact at the Cabin has spent the last two years building immersive, all-inclusive travel experiences for curious, adventurous souls who want more than a standard vacation. With 12 events hosted and a growing global community, we specialize in taking groups to the world's most extraordinary places — where the landscape, the history, and the people around you all conspire to change you.
On Rapa Nui, you'll be accompanied by our experienced expedition team alongside expert local Rapa Nui guides — indigenous historians and storytellers who carry the living knowledge of the island's past. This is not a group tour. It's a gathering.
Every day on Rapa Nui is a revelation. Here's what we'll explore together.
Day 1
Fly from Santiago to Mataveri International Airport. Meet your group and guides at our boutique accommodation in Hanga Roa, the island's only town. Tonight: a welcoming dinner, introductions, and your first look at an island sky uncontaminated by city light.
Day 2
Begin at Rano Raraku — the volcanic nursery where nearly all Moai were carved, hundreds still emerging from the hillside. Then to the breathtaking Ahu Tongariki with its 15 standing Moai. Afternoon: hike the rim of Rano Kau's massive crater and gaze into its extraordinary freshwater lake.
Day 3
Visit Orongo's clifftop ceremonial village — home of the Birdman cult, perched between crater and ocean. Explore Ana Kai Tangata cave with its ancient petroglyphs and paintings. Descend into Ana Te Pahu's lava tube, sheltered by wild banana trees.
Day 4
Ahu Akivi's seven Moai uniquely face the ocean — said to represent scouts sent by the island's first king. Visit Puna Pau, the red-scoria quarry where the Moai's distinctive pukao topknots were carved. Sunset at the restored Tahai ceremonial complex.
Day 5
Spend the morning at Anakena — Rapa Nui's only white-sand beach, believed to be where the island's founding chief Hotu Matu'a first came ashore. Visit Ahu Nau Nau's beautifully restored Moai on the beach. Afternoon free for swimming, rest, or independent exploration.
Days 6–7
Two days for deeper exploration: extended coastal hikes, visits to lesser-known sites, local cultural immersion, and dedicated stargazing sessions under Easter Island's extraordinary dark skies. These are the days to go slow, go deep, and let the island do its work.
Day 8
A final morning to breathe in the island before our afternoon flight back to Santiago. Return to Chile — changed. The Moai will watch you leave the same way they've watched everything for eight centuries.
